A downloadable game

WHAT IS THIS?:

This is an attempt to demake Spelunky 2 for GBC. This was a wildly ambitious project, and I only just managed to get a playable version ready, although I ended up having to convert it to an endless runner type game, and cut a ton of planned content.

Since it ended up getting rushed a little in the last few weeks of development, it can be a little rough around the edges in some areas, and I haven't has the time to properly test it thoroughly. But what's here is here, and that includes a fully featured character controller, a fast and robust entity system, and level generation and auto-tiling that works well.

GAMEPLAY:

You get 4 hearts, and from there you're on your own. Make it as far as you can into the game, collecting as much gold as possible. You get 1 minute and 30 seconds to complete each level, or your game will end. The game does not save your scores, so if you want to keep track, you're gonna have to do that manually.

Do whatever you want with the code, just credit me (sukus) if you want to use any of it.

Developed using Emulicious, hUGETracker and RGBDS.

CONTROLS:
Left/right: Move
A: Jump

This is pretty cool!
I hope you maybe considering working some more on it in the future?

I'm definitely considering going back to it at some point, but I would have to iron out a few hacks I made in order to finish it on time before doing anything else. And I also just need a break from assembly for a while. But maybe sometime in the future I might continue work on it if I'm in the mood for it.

I'm really glad you like it though :)

Awesome job! It's great to see a demake of probably my favourite game of all time!

Looks great for being unfinished! Would love to see this turn into a full release.
